A vote for the roundabout I'm getting a little tired of some people complaining about the roundabout. I, for one, think the one at Glenwood Drive and Route 91 is great. All you have to do is go 15 mph and merge accordingly.

Our View: Take time to recall sacrifices, for all time

Throughout history, the struggles of those who came before are easily forgotten in the urgency of current endeavors. For example, who remembers the 2004 Battle of Fallujah, when we worry about last month's terrorist attack?

Have fun on Memorial Day, but don't forget its purpose

Memorial Day is more than just a three-day weekend. Although it did not become an official federal holiday until 1971, Americans have been honoring military veterans who died in wars since after the Civil War.

Says roundabouts have zero benefits I have had enough of hearing about these roundabouts and any benefits they may or may not have. They have none! The thought of having everyone having to slow down and look to their left when they enter the intersection is ludicrous.

Enough already with 'Happy' Memorial Day nonsense

I started filing an annual Memorial Day column a few years back, after witnessing bad behavior at a Columbus-area service. Here's an updated version.

Trip to Hawaii? Why not Cleveland?

COLUMBUS -- Remember that time the governor urged people to consider Ohio for their vacation destinations, rather than heading to exotic places outside of the state's borders? "We are stressing stay-cations in Ohio this year," he told a crowd. No, not that governor.

GOP health care bill a 'Yugo while pretending it's a Cadillac

When the Republicans promised to repeal and replace Obamacare, they said it would be just as good if not better than the "failing" law, and cheaper. If we imagine health insurance as a car, that would mean the same car would cost less.

Levy passed due to community apathy, not support 1

Only 12 percent of registered voters in the Twinsburg School District voted Yes on May 2. 11 percent voted No. Hardly broad community support. But, the other 77 percent of you mostly apathetic residents will have to pay the huge tax increase, too.

Children once played games outdoors

Nature's earthy aroma and tricky weather hint at spring and I hear doctors suggest children do at least one hour of physical activity daily, despite the season. I remember when kids played outdoors year round. They invented their own fun.

A 'ridiculous display of immaturity' by the president Unbelievable. We could improve the government by shutting it down. Health care would be better if we kicked 24 million off it. This country will gain in status by building larger detainment centers and a beautiful wall.

Say no to 'Yellow'

Smartphones provide us with new experiences, helping connect people and making the world seem smaller. We rely on social media to check in with family and friends and to keep up on the latest information. However, that openness can also lead to danger.

Thoughts prompted by a kid in dirty jeans with a gun

COLUMBUS -- I came upon a tragic scene outside the Statehouse a few days ago that I can't stop thinking about. It was the start of rush hour, cars were backed up, and there was a city bus stopped near the east-side door, not too far from the parking garage exit.

Note of thanks

Thankful for people who helped his wife I'd like to say something positive about this community. My wife has a horrible fear of being stranded in her car. On April 24 she was running our daughter to the fitness center and ran out of gas in the middle of the intersection.

Reforming Ohio's Prevailing Wage law

Welcome to halftime in Ohio's biennial budget process

COLUMBUS -- The Ohio House is poised to further amend the biennial operating budget, with a midweek floor vote expected. Just how seriously should you take the initial version that leaves the chamber in coming days? That's a good question.

Ohio legislators should 'stop hiding' The two week congressional spring recess has come and gone. The time set aside for members of Congress to visit their constituents has come and gone. And still, Rep. David Joyce (R, OH-14) and Sen.
