AKRON -- Summit County Council has confirmed the appointment of Julie Wesel, CEO of Chemstress Consultant Co., to the Development Finance Authority of Summit County Board of Directors.
Chemstress is a full-service engineering and design service provider for industrial capital projects. Chemstress was founded in Akron in 1965 and works on projects both local and national.
Wesel graduated from The Ohio State University with an accounting degree and later earned her CPA. She worked for a large public accounting firm after college on the audit staff and specialized in real estate and banking. Wesel worked for 24 years at Forest City Enterprises (a real estate developer and operator) in a variety of accounting, finance, business process and leadership roles. She has returned to her home town of Akron to lead Chemstress.
Wesel replaces Phil Montgomery on the DFA Board.
DFA specializes in using bonds, tax credits and non-traditional sources of capital, including the Jobs and Investment Bond Fund, to create and retain jobs and finance commercial real estate investment. In addition, as a certified community development entity (CDE), the DFA is authorized to deploy new markets tax credits that benefit low-income communities throughout an 18-county service area in Northeast Ohio.
