Twinsburg -- Ruth R. Osborn, 95, of Twinsburg passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 at Hillcrest Hospital after a short illness.
Ruth Osborn was a lifelong resident of Twinsburg and was born December 1, 1921. She graduated from Twinsburg High School in 1940 and married the late Glenn R. Osborn, Twinsburg's first Chief of Police, in 1941. Ruth was Twinsburg's Police and Fire Dispatcher for 26 years. Her service to Twinsburg started in 1949 when she dispatched out of her home. The position at that time was only part time, but beginning in 1955 when the offices were moved to the former city hall on the Twinsburg Square, she became the full time dispatcher as well as the chiefs secretary and records clerk. Ruth retired in 1974. Ruth and her husband enjoyed traveling between Arizona and Ohio in their motor home, fishing and visiting their children in Arizona, Maine, and Colorado. Ruth professed that she sure had a fulfilling life doing much more than she ever dreamed of including traveling to her parents native Germany to visit relatives.
She is survived by her three children. Carolyn (Art) Chamberlin of Arizona, Ronald (Linda) Osborn of Maine, and Christine (Rodney) Conrad of Colorado; grandchildren, Richard and Jeffery Chamberlin, Stefanie (Xavier) Giovanna, Amy (James) Hindenlang, and Kevin (Krystal) Conrad; great-grandmother of five.
Friends will be received Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 5-8 pm at JOHNSON-ROMITO FUNERAL HOME, 9819 Darrow Rd. (corner of RT. 91 & Post Rd.) TWINSBURG, OH. (330-425-2244) where services will be held Thursday at 1:00 pm. Burial to follow at Crown Hill Memorial Park. Family suggests memorial contributions to Twinsburg Police Association, 10075 Ravenna Rd.
