"There are as many reasons to come to Rotary as there are Rotarians. But each of us has stayed, because it adds something to our own lives. Through Rotary, we are making a difference in the world, and the more involved we become, the greater the difference it makes in each of us. Rotary challenges us ... to strive for higher goals and to incorporate 'Service Above Self' into our daily lives."

TWINSBURG -- The newest member of the Rotary Club of Twinsburg is Steve Bosso, assistant fire chief of the Twinsburg Fire Department.

Bosso was recently inducted into the international service organization, following the four-way test by membership chairperson Guy Gentile.

"Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?" he read.

"For me, Rotary provides another meaningful avenue to give back to this community in which I hold a long-term personal and professional commitment," said Bosso. "And, as a plus, there is the friendship and camaraderie I have with fellow members."

Bosso has been the the assistant fire chief post since November 2014. Previously a captain with the TFD and chief of the Ravenna Township Fire Department, he also serves as the Community Emergency Response Team administrator and instructor on the Summit County Incident Management Assistance Team. Bosso is also an instructor with the Ohio Emergency Management Agency.

Although Bosso had an early career in photojournalism, he says a lifetime passion for firefighting led him to a 26-year career in the industry, with more than 23 years in supervisory and administrative roles. The assistant fire chief studied graphic communications and photography at Cuyahoga Community College, where he also attended the Fire and Officer Academy. At Kent State University, his course of study was Advanced Supervisory Practices.

Bosso holds an Ohio Fire Executive leadership certificate.

A Twinsburg resident for more than 30 years, Bosso was born and raised in nearby Northfield Center where he attended St. Barnabas and Nordonia schools. His family members include wife, Pam; son, Jeremy and daughter-in-law, Leslie; grandchildren, Hannah and Will; and stepson, Tyler, who is completing paramedic and firefighting courses.

His pastimes include motorcycling, beaches, country or rock concerts, and "chilling" on his deck, particularly with many scoops of ice cream -- any flavor will do.

These local Rotarians participate in worthy projects and strive to be good neighbors every day. Membership inquiries are welcome. For more information, contact Guy Gentile at 330-608-4296 or email guygentile@aol.com.
