According to the National Weather Service, heavy snow is expected to fall starting late this afternoon into Wednesday.
The NWS posted the following at 10:46 a.m. on its website today:
“Low pressure will track through the Ohio Valley on Monday with widespread snow developing from west to east across the area into Monday night. Northeast winds across Lake Erie will enhance snowfall totals downwind of the Lake where the highest accumulations are expected. Low pressure will weaken and move to the East Coast on Tuesday as it merges with a stronger low moving northward up the Atlantic Coast. Temperatures will fall acrossthe Great Lakes behind this system with lake-effect snow continuing Tuesday night and Wednesday. Northerly winds will increase on Tuesday with gusts as high as 35 mph near Lake Erie, contributing to blowing and drifting of the newly fallen snow.”
The winter weather advisory is in effect from 5 p.m. this evening to 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
“Snow will begin late this afternoon and increase in intensity tonight before tapering to scattered snow showers Tuesday night,” the NWS advisory states. “Some lake-effect snow bands could affect portions of this area Tuesday night into Wednesday, leading to higher totals.”
