TWINSBURG -- Planning for Founders' Day, a Bicentennial celebration, is underway -- and the Bicentennial Committee is seeking people and groups to help plan and volunteer at the event.
Founders' Day is set for July 22, one of the hallmark celebrations throughout the year for the city, Twinsburg Township and village of Reminderville.
Individuals and community organizations interested in assisting are invited to a March 13, 6 p.m. public meeting at the Twinsburg Community Center, 10260 Ravenna Road in Twinsburg. Bicentennial Committee members will host the meeting and specific event plans and volunteer opportunities will be discussed.
"Founders' Day will serve as our featured Bicentennial celebration," said Twinsburg Parks and Recreation Director Derek Schroeder. "We have some big ideas for a huge, festival-like atmosphere, but we can't pull it off without the community. It would be a great opportunity for organizations who like to be actively involved."
The Bicentennial Committee comprises city, township and village officials, as well as representatives from the Twinsburg Chamber of Commerce, Twinsburg Historical Society, Twinsburg Public Library, Twinsburg City School District and Twinsburg Garden Club.
