TWINSBURG -- Orchestra students at Twinsburg High and R.B. Chamberlin Middle schools were recognized at the Twinsburg Orchestras Awards Banquet at the high school on May 2.

The event was an opportunity for orchestra director Damon Conn to highlight the year-long achievements of the students in grades 7 through 12 and for parents and friends to join in the celebration. The students also thanked Conn for his dedication, presenting him with a framed word plaque of some of his favorite sayings, and a special conductor's baton.

The awards banquet accents the orchestras' successful school year, including:

Receiving a "Superior" rating in "Class A" at the Ohio Music Education Association State Orchestra contest this winter. A "Superior" rating is the highest that a high school performing group can receive and Class A is the most difficult performance. This is the orchestra's fourth year in a row receiving this top honor; and

THS senior orchestra violist Luke Wardell being selected as OMEA All-State Orchestra and senior double bassist Dylan Bretz being selected as OMEA All- State Jazz Ensemble.
