worship Dec. 21
While Christmas is a season of joy, not everyone feels like celebrating. The "Longest Night: Blue Christmas" service will be at Christ the King Lutheran Church Dec. 21 beginning at 7 p.m. The service will offer a place of solace during the hectic days leading up to Christmas. In the northern hemisphere, Dec. 21 is the longest night, the winter solstice. It marks the shortest day of the year, the official start of winter.
The service will include an opportunity to be anointed with oil; the laying on of hands; and candle lighting in memory of loved ones.
Music director Kevin Basom will present the cantata "O Night Divine" by Kenna Turner West, Dale Matthews and Steve Mauldin Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. with a reception following, sponsored by Thrivent Financial; and Dec. 18 at 9:45 a.m.
Christ the King is located at 10285 Ravenna Road in Twinsburg, across from R.B. Chamberlin Middle School. It is an Evangelical Lutheran Church in America congregation with the Rev. Matthew Groenke as pastor. Call 330-425-7377 and visit www.ctktwinsburg.com for more information.
