Twinsburg -- The UPS Store's new location in the center of town is inherently global and perfectly provincial.
Anna Marie Reminder, co-owner of the packaging and shipping store at 8984 Darrow Road, says the yellow house has a little more small-town charm than a previous location in Town Center Plaza.
"Whereas our old facility was totally retail, this is a quaint store now, with a homier feel," Reminder said Dec. 1.
The UPS Store, which opened in Twinsburg in 2006 at 8870 Darrow Road, moved to 8984 Darrow Road in October.
The franchise agreement at the previous location was up, Reminder said, and with UPS' backing, more than $40,000 in equipment and remodeling was put into the new location.
New printers and copiers were purchased that can now handle laminating and decals, and the store still offers shipping and printing for large and small businesses; personal business mailboxes; notary work; freight shipping; faxing; and more.
"It's a total small business resource," Reminder said. "It's a Twinsburg feel, but it's a state-of-the-art store."
Reminder said the ability to live and work in the same community is a unique benefit, as she and her husband, Chris, co-owner of the store, have lived on Laura Lane for 17 years.
"We wanted to be part of the community ... to live and work in work in same area," she said. "Many of our customers are from Twinsburg or local areas."
The new location is about 1,150 square feet, about 200 square feet less than the old location, Chris Reminder said. There are four full-time employees.
"We're very happy with this location," Chris said. "We have kids who go to school in the area."
"People who own stores like this are typically invested in the community," Anna Marie added. "We are extremely happy here, and we definitely have a lot of loyal customers. We know the residents and they know us."
She offered a final reminder for the holiday season.
"If you have questions about how to pack something, ask us ... we are the packing experts," she said. "But ship early if you can."
